About Us
At Floating Homes Portland, we specialize in waterfront living. With deep local expertise and a refined understanding of the floating home market in and around the Portland area and the Pacific Northwest, we connect discerning buyers and sellers with precision and care. In this highly nuanced segment of real estate, working with a knowledgeable professional familiar with the limited vendors, service providers, and specialized resources associated with floating home ownership can provide significant value both during and after the transaction process.
Whether you are purchasing your first floating home or preparing to sell a cherished property, we provide thoughtful guidance, strategic insight, and seamless execution at every step.
We also frequently assist clients with coordinated transitions between floating homes and land-based properties. Buyers who enlist our services to help sell an existing home, whether on land or water, often benefit from commission discounts and a more streamlined transition process. Likewise, we regularly help floating home sellers relocate into traditional residential properties or move into larger or upgraded floating homes, helping align timelines and simplify the overall experience for all parties involved.
This is more than real estate. It is a lifestyle defined by water, sunlight, and community — one we live, breathe, and are honored to represent.

Our Founder – Amy Sedgwick
After 27 years in real estate, I have come to learn that it’s not about the house at all. What I found is that I cared more about discovering what was happening in a person’s life than whether they wanted to sell or buy a house with a certain number of bedrooms and bathrooms. What kept me in the industry for so long was the desire to help people drill down into their situation and their desires. Was it a major life change? Just starting out? Was the dream a place to create art or a deeper sense of community?
The more I cared about people first, the more I found myself drawn to the world of floating homes and the lifestyle surrounding them.
Being a native Oregonian, I was introduced to floating homes as a child. My parents currently live on one (it’s not too late – my dad is 87), and I have lived in several myself. The immeasurable benefit is the community: lending a hand to a neighbor, accepting help when you need it, and the social connection that naturally comes with life on the water.
Over the years, my experience working with buyers and sellers in this unique space also led me to write A Buyer’s Guide to Floating Homes, a resource created to help others better understand and navigate this special lifestyle.
My time selling floating homes has now come to a close. I have moved on to live in Mérida, Mexico, where I manage my rental properties and help guests create memorable stays through Amy’s Casa.
Galene and Dan have taken the helm of Floating Homes Portland, and I could not be prouder. They both know their stuff and work hard to continue the mission of Floating Homes Portland.
You can keep an eye on what I am doing in Mexico at AmysCasa.com and on YouTube at Destination Retirement.
My sincerest gratitude for all of the wonderful clients over the years – may your boats always float.
Amy
